We are pleased to extend an invitation to attend the 2026 CPA Australia and Pacific Regional Conference.

Set in the historic and welcoming city of Hobart, the Conference will provide a collegial environment for thoughtful dialogue and shared learning among parliamentary counterparts.

The Conference will be held over three days, from Tuesday 10 November to Thursday 12 November 2026, at the RACV Hobart Hotel.

Under the theme, Parliaments of the Future: Integrity, Innovation and Inclusion, the program will explore the evolving responsibilities and opportunities facing legislatures across Australia and the Pacific, including the role of statutory bodies and parliamentary frameworks in supporting integrity, the impact of innovation and emerging technologies on parliamentary work, and reforms to improve accessibility and strengthen electoral inclusivity and representation across diverse communities.

We look forward to welcoming you to Tasmania for what promises to be a valuable and engaging gathering of parliamentary leaders and practitioners from across the region.

Presenter Information

Thank you for your interest in presenting a paper at the 2026 CPA Conference. We welcome abstract submissions aligned with the conference theme, Parliaments of the Future: Integrity, Innovation and Inclusion. To support your submission, a list of suggested topics is provided below. Branches are also invited to advise the Conference Secretariat of any additional topics they would like considered under the theme for inclusion in the program.

Abstract submissions are to be submitted during the registration process and must be made using the official abstract template provided. Submissions are due by Friday 31 July.

Integrity, innovation and inclusion are fundamental components of a healthy democracy.  This theme has been selected to give participants an opportunity to explore and reflect on public trust in democratic institutions, advancements in technology, and the importance of accessibility and diversity

  • The role of statutory bodies and the relationship between them and parliamentarians in maintaining integrity
  • The role of parliamentarians in modelling integrity to their constituents
  • The responsibility of being accountable and transparent in decision-making
  • Codes of Conduct for Members and independent complaints mechanisms

  • The rise in new technologies that improve efficiencies in parliamentary procedure
  • The risk of misinformation and digital threats that spread through social media
  • How to be safe in a global digital society

Inclusion

  • Reform to improve the accessibility of parliamentary democracies for people with disability
  • The importance of electoral inclusivity and diversity
