Dr Pip Ryan is a barrister and lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Technology Sydney. Her area of expertise is commercial equity and the legal implications for blockchain-based smart contracts. Her PhD formulated a new classification for the liability of third parties to a breach of trust. Pip designed and coordinates two of UTS Law’s new Legal Futures subjects: Disruptive Technologies and the Law; and Law Technology, Policy and Ethics. She is on the editorial board of the Standford CodeX Journal of Blockchain Law & Policy. She is Chair of the Standards Australia Blockchain Technical Committee’s Smart Contracts Working Group. She has co-authored a forthcoming book: Blockchain: Transforming Your Business and Our World and is she is now busy working on her next title: Trust and Distrust in Distributed and Digital Economies.
