Change. It’s happening everywhere and it’s happening fast. Change weary… Change fatigue… change resistant. Health professionals playing the role of the victims of too many changes, implemented too quickly, imposed from above with little thought for the day-to-day implementation. LIGHT BULB MOMENT. Rather than resisting change and the speed at which it impacts our work life, what if we embraced it? What if we commit to moving rapidly through change cycles and making real differences in real time to the patient journey? What if we empowered our clinicians and their collective wisdom, harnessing their expertise for good rather than evil?
This is our journey. How one crazy idea turned into rapid fire quality improvement activities and real outcomes for our clients.
Biography
I am an Occupational Therapist by profession, currently working as the Acting Team Leader of a multi-disciplinary allied health team in the Barossa Hills Fleurieu Region of South Australia.I began my career working for an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in the NT, and have since worked in a variety of settings, including acute hospitals, community setting, government and non-government organisations, mainly in rural and remote areas.
