Artificial Intelligence to improve operational forecasting, what is the key ingredient?

Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning are fast becoming integrated into all facets of our daily lives and so it would appear reasonable to make use of this technology to improve operations forecasting the marine environment. The ability for this approach to deliver improvements is underpinned by the quality of data from which these algorithms may be trained. Additionally, being able to apply these approaches to a broad range of disparate and complex data sets will likely result in the best improvements. Therefore the key ingredient or enabler is effective data management. DataMesh has been developed specifically with this end goal in mind, and is a disruptive data management tool that enables data streams from multiple, disparate sources to be readily organised in the one place for analysis. We will present on DataMesh and its capabilities and provide examples where DatMesh and Ai have combined to improve operational forecasting.
