Biography:

I am a butterfly enthusiast and mainly focused on butterfly monitoring volunteer work in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China for the last 10 years. I am studying Chemistry Major and an Entomology Minor at UQ and going to start Honours of Zoology soon.

Abstract:

Because butterflies are beautiful, they attract many nature enthusiasts and photographers. However, their species richness, conservation concern and morphological diversity varies greatly among different regions. In Suzhou, Butterfly Monitoring Clubs (voluntary projects belonging to Jiangsu Butterfly Monitoring System) are famous in several primary and secondary schools, but the resources for students to be able to study butterflies has been lacking. Here, I report how we have been developing a field guide to the butterflies of Suzhou to provide essential, reliable information for volunteers and enthusiasts alike.
