Commander Belinda Finlay is an Oceanographer in the Royal Australian Navy. After graduating from the Australian Defence Force Academy in 1996 with an Oceanography degree, she served at sea as a Maritime Warfare Officer in Patrol Boats, Frigates and a Canadian Destroyer before specialising in Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC).

Belinda’s early years as a METOC were predominately in Aviation Meteorology; however, her days are now much more focused on Oceanography. She misses the clouds; however, she draws great satisfaction from using operational oceanography to contribute to the Navy’s mission to Fight and Win at sea.
