Dr. V. Narendran is the Chief Medical Officer at Aravind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore, and a distinguished ophthalmologist with over three decades of experience in clinical care, academics, research, and hospital administration. He completed his MBBS and specialized in ophthalmology  earning a DNB in Ophthalmology. His international exposure includes observerships at Cornell University, Johns Hopkins–Wilmer Eye Institute, Wills Eye Hospital, and the Jules Stein Eye Institute, USA. Dr. Narendran has held several national and international leadership roles, including membership in the Government of India’s Retinopathy of Prematurity task force, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Trust (UK), and serving as the Indian Representative to the American Academy of Ophthalmology since 2018. Apart from being an Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois, Chicago, he has contributed extensively to the DNB programme in India. With 137 publications, five book chapters, and multiple prestigious awards (including Dr. D.Sundareswaran Endowment Oration Award by Indian Medical Association in 2019,Prof Michael Trese Oration Award by the Indian  retinopathy of prematurity society in 2019,Sutaria oration for excellence in Vitreo Retinal surgery by Vidarbha Ophthalmic Association,to name a few), he continues to play a pivotal role in advancing ophthalmic care and education.
