The Hon Lindy Jenkins

The Hon Lindy Jenkins was appointed a member of the Law Reform Commission of Western Australia on 9 September 2020 and shortly afterwards she was elected the Chair of the Commission. She continues to hold both positions. In 2022-3, the Commission conduced a review Western Australia’s sexual offence laws.

After her initial admission to practice in 1982, Lindy practiced in various areas of law. For nearly 20 years she was a prosecutor, and regularly prosecuted sexual offences.

In 2001 Lindy was appointed a judge of the District Court of Western Australia where she presided over many sexual offence trials. In 2004, she was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

Lindy retired from judicial office in 2020. Later that year she was appointed a Commissioner on the Royal Commission into the Perth Casino.

Lindy’s has had an interest in Law Reform for most of her career. She served as a part-time member of the Law Reform Commission of Western Australia for 18 months from 29 December 1999 – 31 August 2001. From 1999-2001, she was also a member of the Model Criminal Code Committe with the Committee’s work forming the basis for what is now the Commonwealth Criminal Code.
