Dr Sharon Reutens is a psychiatrist who has completed advanced training in both neuropsychiatry and psychogeriatrics. She has a private general adult forensic psychiatry practice providing opinions in civil and criminal matters, including matters relating to financial capacity, guardianship, power of attorney and wills, and fitness and mental illness defences. She has over 15 years’ experience as an expert witness, appearing in the Supreme and District Courts as well as in tribunals.
Sharon is a motor accident medical assessor for the NSW Personal Injury Commission and has been trained as a Comcare and State Insurance Regulatory Authority Permanent Impairment Assessor. She is a foundation member of the Faculty of Forensic Psychiatry and a member of the Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry and Section of Neuropsychiatry. She was a founding director of the Australian Centre for Capacity, Ethics and the Prevention of Exploitation of People with Disabilities, also known as Capacity Australia.
